About the course

Basic Artist Management course provides current and future managers the most relevant and up-to-date skills, so they can expertly navigate the music industry and lead their artists to career success.

Our experienced artist manager and global music industry consultant, will guide you through the exciting world of music management. Over four comprehensive modules, he will provide you with the know-how, passion and confidence to oversee every aspect of your artists’ career, including sales, recording, publishing, live performance, brand partnerships, contracts and much more.

This immersive online course presents a rare opportunity to work closely alongside a respected music industry professional. Our tutors have successfully managed bands for many years.

  • What is an artist manager and what do they do?

  • Management skills and personal traits required for managing artists and bands

  • The artist/manager relationship

  • How to get into artist management – entry options

  • The trick of ‘communication’ the psychology of management

  • How are managers paid?  The commission and consultant model

  • The artist management contract: typical artist management contracts, contract negotiation, contract term, percentages, exclusivity, payment of services, power of attorney, expenses, earnings following contract period and financial terms. A sample artist management contract will be given to all students

  • Class discussion: Streaming and Spotify – how has streaming impacted our role, what is the future of streaming, and how do we secure revenue and promotional opportunities from streaming today

Our Artist Management course is for anyone interested in managing bands and/or artists, as well as those looking for a better understanding of the music industry. It’s also perfect for artists who plan to self-manage their careers as well as current managers looking to learn new skills. You should be 18 years old or older. No previous experience is necessary.

Yes. Until further notice, all of our courses will be taking place online, through our virtual classrooms. These online courses take place live, so you can interact with your tutor and other students in real-time! With high quality video and audio, live notes, quizzes and breakout group sessions – the virtual classroom provides an immersive learning experience, where ever you are in the world!
